The Creative Entrepreneur's Guide to Sanity.
It's World Mental Health Day, let's make a playlist.
Hey honeys and hustlers,
I've had the privilege of being a community board member with Band Together NC for a few years now. The way they bring people together to raise money that benefits nonprofits in the Triangle, and therefore communities in the Triangle, is truly special. This year was no different. We raised money ($1M+) and awareness for mental health, which is timely considering that today is World Mental Health Day.
I won't give you empty platitudes about checking in on your strong friend. Instead, I ask that you check in with yourself.
- How are you doing?
- Is there something you'd like to ask for help with?
- Is there someone who may need your help but is unable to ask?
And show up in the best way you can, for yourself and others. I’ve tried many productivity systems, but there’s one framework that has stuck with me. It’s helped me get the most out of my week without going crazy from a to-do list that never seems to end. I got the inspiration for this framework from James Clear’s 3-2-1 newsletter. Every week he writes 3 ideas, 2 quotes, and 1 question to consider. I unashamedly look forward to that newsletter in my inbox and read it as soon as I see it pop up. I realized that I wanted to look forward to my week with that same childlike enthusiasm, no matter what lay ahead. So here’s my version of a 3-2-1 weekly framework for productivity:
3 top priorities
2 healthy habits
1 thing that makes me happy
There are probably way more than 3 things on your to-do list, but don’t beat yourself up for being unable to do them all at once. Sometimes I struggle with balancing the importance of keeping promises to myself and recognizing when I’m expecting the impossible of myself. I have to remind myself that 80% of my progress is determined by 20% of my work so that 20% is what’s most important.
As the amount of sunlight during the day starts to get shorter, many of us will be indoors more. Share some songs that make you happy, set the mood while working, or that you’re just really into right now and would love for other people to be obsessed with. I’ll put them together and make a playlist for our community to vibe to. I’m hoping it’ll be like the Big Desk Energy playlist but like, with soul.
Please Hustle Responsibly,
🤙🏾✨
